...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a
Flood Warning for the following rivers and locations in Indiana...
White River at Elliston, Newberry, Edwardsport, and Petersburg.
Eel River at Bowling Green.
.Intense rainfall the second half of today across parts of central
Indiana will quickly bring flooding to the lower White River and to
the Eel River in the Bowling Green, Indiana area. The heaviest
rainfall fell from the Vigo and Sullivan county area in west central
Indiana eastward to the Brown, Bartholomew and Shelby county area in
central and southeast Indiana, with radar estimated totals peaking
in the 3.00 to 3.60 inch range.
As of Monday evening, flooding is expected primarily on the lower
White River, but conditions through Tuesday night may necessitate
later flooding warnings for the lower Wabash River and the Seymour
area on the East Fork White River within the next couple of days or
so. Please stay abreast of later forecasts and possible warnings.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...White River at Petersburg.
* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday, May 27.
* IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, County Road 250 West from State Road 56
floods and blocks the vehicle access to Dodge City. During the
March 2008 flood the river remained above this level from late
afternoon March 19 through April 9. As mid-March 2011 high water
was receding...SR 257 south of Washington reopened when Shoals was
at 10.5 feet and falling steadily for the past 2 days.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:45 PM EDT Monday /6:45 PM CDT Monday/ the stage was 10.8
feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early Wednesday afternoon to a crest of 19.9 feet Saturday
evening. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday, May 26.
- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
