Description:
At 833 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
over Central City to 6 miles east of Coulterville, or along a line
from over Centralia to 12 miles southwest of Nashville, moving east
at 50 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Red Bud, New Athens, St. Libory, Prairie, Marissa, Preston,
Okawville, Baldwin, Carlyle, Lively Grove, Sparta, Tilden, Eden,
Nashville, Coulterville, Shattuc, Wamac, Irvington, Posen and
Ashley.
This includes Interstate 64 in Illinois between exits 41 and 61.
Instruction:
Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and large hail.
Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for portions of
south central and southwest Illinois.
