Description:
At 746 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Daisy to near Grassy. Movement was
southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Scott City, Chaffee, Jonesboro, Marble Hill,
Advance, Oran, Benton, Bollinger Mill State Historic Site, Trail Of
Tears State Park, Dongola, Morley, Tamms, Kelso, Bell City, Delta,
Gordonville, Dutchtown, and Millersville.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 22 and 26.
Interstate 55 between Mile Markers 77 and 118.
Instruction:
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
