Description:
At 647 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 16
miles northeast of Canton to 5 miles north of Maywood, or along a
line from 16 miles northeast of Canton to 8 miles southwest of
Canton, moving east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Monticello, Ewing, Canton, Meyer, Lima, La Grange, Ursa, Loraine,
Mendon, Woodville, Quincy and Fowler.
This includes the following State Parks...
Wakonda State Park.
This includes Interstate 172 between exits 15 and 19.
Instruction:
Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and large hail.
Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT Friday for
portions of west central Illinois and northeast Missouri.
