River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Kaskaskia River at Vandalia. * WHEN...Until Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Agricultural levee begins to be slightly overtopped. No residences are affected at this level. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:00 PM CDT Thursday was 24.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning and continue falling to 9.1 feet Thursday, May 07. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 23.0 feet on 05/19/1920.
