* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Macoupin County in southwestern Illinois... * WHEN...Until 400 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1143 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Carlinville, Staunton, Virden, Gillespie, Brighton, Girard, Mount Olive, Bunker Hill, Benld, Palmyra, Shipman, Wilsonville, Sawyerville, Mount Clare, East Gillespie, Eagarville, Piasa, Medora, Nilwood and White City. - This includes the following State Parks... Beaver Dam State Park. This includes Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 41 and 44.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
