Description:
At 209 PM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing
flash flooding around Cambridge and Ulah. Between 2 and 4 inches of
rain have fallen in the hardest hit areas. The expected rainfall
rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5
to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cambridge, Woodhull, Andover, Osco, Henry County Fairgrounds, Ulah
and Nekoma.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Illinois between mile markers 21 and 22.
Interstate 74 in Illinois between mile markers 24 and 33.
County Rd 14 closed near Cambridge due to water over roadway. Creeks
flowing out of their banks near Ulah.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.
