Description:
At 928 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heavy rain has ended,
however between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen in the warning
area. Flash flooding continues to be a threat.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Carlinville, Staunton, Virden, Gillespie, Brighton, Girard, Mount
Olive, Bunker Hill, Benld, Palmyra, Shipman, Wilsonville,
Sawyerville, Mount Clare, East Gillespie, Eagarville, Piasa,
Medora, Nilwood and White City.
This includes the following State Parks...
Beaver Dam State Park.
This includes Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 41 and 44.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
