...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR OAHU, MAUI COUNTY AND THE BIG ISLAND
THROUGH 6 AM HST SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of
streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along
with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff.
Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Low pressure northwest of the islands will continue to draw
deep tropical moisture northward across the state, bringing
the potential for heavy rain capable of producing flash
flooding. The focus will gradually shift eastward tonight
into Saturday morning as the axis of moisture progresses down
the island chain and drier air fills in behind.
Instruction:
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
