The island of Kauai in Kauai County * Until 745 PM HST. * At 444 PM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling over the north shore of Kauai. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Sharp rises have been observed at the Hanalei River gauge. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Kekaha, Princeville, Kilauea, Alakai Swamp Trails, Kokee State Park, Na Pali State Park, Wainiha, Haena, North Fork Wailua Trails, Waimea, Hanalei, Polihale, Hanapepe, Mana, Barking Sands, Waimea Canyon State Park, Pakala Village, Kaumakani, Eleele and Kalihiwai.
