* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...East facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade swell, generated by a trade- wind surge caused by the pressure gradient between the subtropical ridge to the north and the unsettled pattern over western and central Micronesia, will continue to produce a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs through this afternoon.
Instruction:
Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
