Event:

Urgency:
Future
Effective:
April 10, 2026 - 11:54pm
Expires:
April 11, 2026 - 3:00pm
Description:
* WHAT...For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking
waves of 12 to 16 feet expected in the surf zone. For the High
Surf Advisory and High Rip Current Risk, large breaking waves of
10 to 13 feet and dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood
Watch, significant coastal flooding of 2 feet or greater
possible.
* WHERE...North, east and south facing reefs of the Marianas.
* WHEN...For the High Surf Warning, from 6 PM Sunday to 6 PM ChST
Thursday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 PM ChST Sunday. For
the Coastal Flood Watch, from Monday morning through Wednesday
afternoon. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Sunday
afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property
including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure may
be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. Breaking waves
can sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas.
Life- threatening swimming conditions and significant beach
erosion can be expected.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong to near-gale trade winds, enhanced
by TY Sinlaku, are producing an east swell near 10 feet and
supporting hazardous surf and a high risk of rip currents. A TY
Sinlaku moves towards the Marianas swell and surf are expected to
build. This will likely generate dangerous surf and increase the
risk for coastal inundation, especially if TY Sunlaku moves
through the Marianas around Monday night or Tuesday.
Instruction:
Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening
surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside
infrastructure.
