Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Chatham County in southeastern Georgia...
* WHEN...Until 345 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 237 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a large cluster of
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall extending from Whitemarsh
Island to Tybee Island and Skidaway Island. As much as 1.5 to 2
inches of rain has fallen over this area since around 130 PM. An
additional 1 to 2 inches could fall through 345 PM, resulting in
minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tybee Island, Wilmington Island, Fort Pulaski National Monument,
Midtown Savannah, Hutchinson Island, Downtown Savannah,
Thunderbolt, Whitemarsh Island, Isle Of Hope and Skidaway Island.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
