...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE BIG ISLAND
OF HAWAII...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...The Big Island.
* WHEN...Through this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams due to
excessive rain over saturated ground. Urban areas may receive more
significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Unstable tropical moisture left from the departing kona low
and troughing aloft will bring possible heavy rain and
isolated thunderstorms through the afternoon hours. A large
band of thunderstorms continues to approach the Big Island
from the west-southwest direction, which may produce another
round of heavy rainfall later today.
Instruction:
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
