This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Portage River near Vicksburg. * WHEN...From this morning to early Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 5.5 feet, Minor basement flooding begins at the first house near the gage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - There is no current observed data. - Bankfull stage is 4.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 5.3 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday afternoon. - Flood stage is 5.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 5.4 feet on 06/30/1978. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
