...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...Indiana...
Wabash River at New Harmony.
.Recent heavy rainfall has resulted in rising waters on the Wabash
River, with the river expected to rise above flood stage at New
Harmony late tonight and continue rising to a crest of 17.8 feet
Thursday early afternoon.
For the Wabash River...including New Harmony...Minor flooding is
forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Wabash River at New Harmony.
* WHEN...From late tonight to Tuesday, March 17.
* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Harmonie State Park is closed. Surrounding
bottomland is flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM CST Saturday the stage was 13.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tonight to a crest of 17.8 feet early Thursday
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday, March
17.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
17.8 feet on 01/14/1993.
Instruction:
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
