Wabash River at Mount Carmel. .The Wabash River level is expected to continue rising, reaching flood stage Friday evening and crest the latter half of next week around 22.7 feet. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Wabash River at Mount Carmel. * WHEN...From Friday evening until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 22.9 feet, Water begins to flow over River Road just north of Fifth Street in the Mount Carmel area. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 PM EST Thursday /8:45 PM CST Thursday/ the stage was 13.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow evening and continue rising to a crest of 22.7 feet Thursday, March 12. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot.
