Southeastern Cortland County in central New York...
West Central Otsego County in central New York...
* Until 800 PM EDT.
* At 548 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Norwich, Edmeston, Plymouth, North Norwich, Sherburne, Pittsfield,
Solon, Cincinnatus, Otselic, McGraw, New Berlin, Columbus,
Earlville, Pitcher, Taylor, Smyrna, Mc Donough, East Freetown,
East Homer and Preston.
Rainfall this morning has saturated the soils so additional rainfall
from these thunderstorms will quickly run off and cause creeks and
tributaries to rise.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
