Northern Steuben County in central New York... Southern Yates County in central New York... * Until 730 PM EDT. * At 432 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Dundee, Hector, Starkey, Urbana, Wayland, Pulteney, Avoca, Cohocton, Prattsburg, Porter Corner, Himrod, Reading Center, Lakemont, Glenora, Rock Stream, Haskinville, Caywood, South Dansville, Townsendville and Wheeler. Saturated ground from earlier rains means that much of the additional rains with these thunderstorms will run off into creeks and tributaries leading to rapid rises in water levels.
