The Big Island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 600 AM HST. * At 1254 AM HST, Emergency Management continues to report widespread flooding impacts and road closures across the Big Island of Hawaii. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in some areas and additional heavy rain remains possible. Hawaii County Emergency Management officials are asking residents and visitors to shelter in place for this life threatening event, keeping roadways clear for emergency responders. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain impacts multiple communities on the Big Island of Hawaii. SOURCE...Emergency Management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas.
