FFWHFO The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 930 PM HST. * At 744 PM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling over the Kau and Puna District southeast slopes of the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour with additional heavy rainfall moving in from the west. Flash flooding is ongoing and Highway 11 is closed at several locations due to flooding. HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood Valley, Pahala, Volcano, Glenwood, Punaluu Beach, Kawa Flats, Mountain View, Naalehu, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates, Keaau, Pahoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Fern Forest, Eden Roc, Fern Acres and Waiohinu.
Instruction: 
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even if they are currently dry. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
