The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 800 AM HST.
* At 345 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain continued to impact the
Puna and Kau Districts along the southeast slopes of the Big
Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
Additionally, Emergency Management reported that Wood Valley Road
remains closed in both directions due to flooding.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
possible in steep terrain.

Hawaiian Paradise Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Wood
Valley, Pahala, Volcano, Glenwood, Punaluu Beach, Kawa Flats,
Mountain View, Naalehu, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates,
Keaau, Pahoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Fern Forest, Eden Roc, Fern
Acres and Waiohinu.
Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
