The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County
* Until 300 AM HST.
* At 1055 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of
Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 1.5 to 2 inches per hour. The
heaviest rain continues to fall over the south-facing slopes and
coasts from Maalaea Bay to Kihei to Makena to Kipahulu.
Additionally, Emergency Management reported several roads closed
in Kihei and Lahaina due to heavy flooding.
HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in
drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and
other low lying areas. Multiple public road closures
expected, as well as landslides in steep terrain.

Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Kula, Pukalani, Makawao, Keokea,
Haliimaile, Paia, Puunene, Haiku-Pauwela, Wailea, Pauwela,
Maalaea, Huelo, Ulupalakua, Makena, Waikapu, Wailuku and Waiehu.
Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
