Description:
At 441 PM HST, radar indicated diminishing rain over Oahu. Rain is
now falling at a rate of one half inch per hour or less. Significant
rises have been observed on area streams. Kamehameha Highway is
closed at the Waikane Stream due to flooding, and a rescue of
stranded individuals is underway at the Hakimo Road bridge in
Nanakuli. Finally, water is inundating Otake Camp which is now being
evacuated due to additional water coming over the Wahiawa Reservoir
spillway. Additional heavy showers will move over the island this
evening.
HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.
SOURCE...Emergency management.
IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages,
streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying
areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well
as landslides in steep terrain.

Instruction:
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of drainage
ditches and streams, streets, highways, properties, and other low
lying spots.
