Description:
...FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR NORTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO FROM NOON TO 7
PM MDT MONDAY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY...
.A lee-side surface trough will continue to hug the Colorado front
range on Monday, leading to gusty south winds across northeastern
New Mexico. In addition, humidity will lower to around 15% through
the late afternoon across this area where very dry fuels exist
(Energy Release Components climbing to near 90th percentile
values). This combination of these ingredients will raise the risk
of rapid fire spread on Monday. This includes Las Vegas, Springer,
Raton, Conchas Dam, Mosquero, Des Moines, and Clayton.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch...which is in effect from Monday afternoon through
Monday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and the Northeast
Highlands (Zone 123) for Monday from noon to 7 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Sustained from the south at 20 to 25 mph with
occasional gusts to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Dropping to 12 to 15% through the late
afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
