...FIRE WEATHER WATCH THURSDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 8 PM MDT FOR THE SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS AND THE NORTHEAST AND CENTRAL HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .After an extended stretch of exceptionally warm and dry weather, winds will trend stronger on Thursday afternoon. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph will focus along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the adjacent highlands. 7 to 10 hours of single digit relative humidity is forecast for the Central and Northeast Highlands, with up to 7 hours along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening. * AREA AND TIMING...Sangre de Cristo Mountains (Zone 122), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), and Central Highlands (Zone 125) Thursday from 11 AM until 8 PM MDT. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 5 and 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
