Description:
A prolonged period of record warmth and very low humidity will
bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions for much of
northeast and north central Colorado through Saturday. The most
widespread critical conditions are expected to develop Saturday
afternoon and hold into Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 11 AM to 7 PM MDT Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 238 and 242.
* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 7 PM MDT this
evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 11 AM to 7 PM
MDT Friday. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Saturday morning
through Saturday evening.
* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with the
strongest winds on Saturday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 6 percent.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread.
Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a
spark and start a wildfire.
Instruction:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
