Description:
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red
Flag Warning below 8000 feet for gusty winds, low relative
humidity and dry fuels, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT
Saturday. A Red Flag Warning has also been issued from 10 AM to
10 PM MDT Sunday. In addition, a Fire Weather Watch for gusty
winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels has been issued. This
Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Monday morning through
Tuesday evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Colorado, Fire Weather Zone 203 Lower
Colorado River below 8000 feet.
* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, from noon to 9 PM MDT
Saturday. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 10 AM to 10 PM
MDT Sunday. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Monday morning
through Tuesday evening.
* WINDS...South 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...7 to 12 percent.
* IMPACTS...Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise
extreme caution with any outdoor burning.
Instruction:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
