...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity for the
following rivers in Alabama...
Flint River at Brownsboro affecting Madison County.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Flint River at Brownsboro.
* WHEN...Until late tomorrow morning.
* IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Significant flooding is occurring between
the Flint River and a man-made levee created by railroad tracks on
the left bank. Water breaches a driveway on the downstream right
bank and may be approaching a home on the upstream right bank.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 22.2 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 1:00 AM CDT Monday was 22.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.1
feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late
tonight.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
