Areas of patchy fog have developed over portions of the western and southern Piedmont, Sandhills, and southern Coastal Plain of central North Carolina. Visibilities may be reduced to one quarter mile or less. Motorists driving this morning should make sure to allow extra driving time to reach your destination. Reduce driving speeds, increase following distances, and use only low beam headlights. Visibilities should improve by 9 am this morning.

Patchy dense fog is expected through 8AM this morning. Visibility one quarter to one half mile at times. If traveling, remain alert for rapid changes in visibility and allow extra following distance. Fog has developed overnight, mainly in the valleys, and has become dense in some areas with visibilities reduced to a quarter of a mile or less. Expect visibilities to vary significantly over short distances this morning, with the fog gradually lifting and dissipating by the 9 AM to 10 AM EDT timeframe. If traveling this morning, slow down, use low beam headlights when encountering fog, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
