Description: 
At 717 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Sherman, or near Athens, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Springfield, Athens, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton, Williamsville, Mechanicsburg, Dawson, Buffalo, Illinois State Fairgrounds, Cornland, Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, Jerome, Southern View, Leland Grove, Grandview, Spaulding, Clear Lake, and Cantrall. This includes the following highways... Interstate 55 between mile markers 94 and 112. Interstate 72 between mile markers 100 and 117.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
