* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...South Central McDowell County in western North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 1245 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 957 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Over 2 inches of rain has fallen this morning at the Sugar Hill FD with flooding of low-lying areas along Montford Cove Rd and eastward toward Highway 221. Nuisance flooding is also possible along select 2nd Broad tributaries south of I-40. A second area of heavy rain of 1.5 to 2 inches had also occurred around greater Marion, so remain wary of urban runoff issues around town this morning and flooding of poor drainage areas. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion, Lake James, Pleasant Gardens, Glenwood, Sugar Hill, Fero, Nebo and Woodlawn. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
