WEDNESDAY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR
THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS...
.Strong southwest winds with low humidity, hot temperatures, and deep
mixing today will increase the risk for rapid fire spread over far
west central New Mexico, including Gallup. Critical fire weather will
expand to much of northwest and west-central NM Tuesday. The dry and
windy conditions will spread to parts of northeast NM by Wednesday.
Any dry lightning strikes that occur over NM today and Tuesday may
result in new starts with rapid fire spread possible.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque NM has issued a Fire
Weather Watch.
* AFFECTED AREA...Northeast Highlands (Zone 123).
* TIMING...From Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative humidity between 6 and 11 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is not recommended.
