Description:
At 103 PM EDT, The public reported thunderstorms producing heavy
rain resulting in multiple water rescues in Lexington. Between 2 and
4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5
to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Public reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Lexington, Northland, Chevy Chase, Thoroughbred Acres, Cadentown,
U K Arboretum, Bryan Station, Highlands, Meadowthorpe and Cardinal
Hill.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely and have them relay your report to the National
Weather Service in Louisville.
