The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Northeastern Chase County in east central Kansas...
* Until 1130 PM CDT.
* At 1056 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Strong City to near Cottonwood Falls, moving
east at 45 mph.
THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR Saffordville and other rural
areas of eastern Chase County.
HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.
* Locations impacted include...
Saffordville.
This includes Interstate 35 between Mile Markers 110 and 115.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
