Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Mitchell County in north central Kansas...
Central Osborne County in north central Kansas...
* WHEN...Until 930 AM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 237 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Localized areas
of 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen since midnight on already
saturated soils from last evening's rain.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Twin Creek, Limestone Creek, Covert Creek, and Salt Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Beloit, Cawker City, Glen Elder, Simpson, Hunter, and Victor.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
