Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following
county, Cook.
* WHEN...Until 230 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may
be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1237 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 1 and 2
inches of rain have fallen over the past few hours in
portions of the advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch, locally higher, are
expected over the area. Runoff from the rain that has fallen
and the additional rainfall will result in flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Chicago, Hammond, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn,
Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Roseland, Chicago Lawn,
Englewood, South Shore, Burbank, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey,
Homer Glen, Blue Island, Dolton, Park Forest and Homewood.

Instruction:
A Flood Advisory means flooding along waterways and other poor
drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in
the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
