Event:
Flood Watch
Urgency:
Future
Effective:
June 8, 2026 - 1:05am
Expires:
June 8, 2026 - 6:00pm
Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of north central, northwest, and west central
Georgia, including the following areas, in north central Georgia,
Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fannin, Fayette,
Forsyth, Gilmer, Gwinnett, Henry, North Fulton, Pickens, Rockdale
and South Fulton. In northwest Georgia, Bartow, Carroll, Catoosa,
Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Polk,
Walker and Whitfield. In west central Georgia, Coweta.
* WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Additional rounds of rainfall are expected to move across the
area through the day today. An anomalously moist environment over
Georgia will support high rain rates and increased chances for
flash flooding. Convective rainfall (showers and thunderstorms)
may repeatedly move over the same areas and have locally high
enough rainfall rates to result in flash flooding particularly in
urban areas and areas with poor drainage. Creeks and streams will
also be susceptible to flash flooding.
