Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Missouri, including the following
counties, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau and Perry.
* WHEN...Until 1100 AM CST.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 850 AM CST, emergency management has reported flooded
roads due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring.
Between 2.5 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Perryville, Alliance, Daisy, Patton, Oak Ridge,
Sedgewickville, Longtown, Old Appleton and Silver Lake.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
