The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northwestern Van Zandt County in north central Texas...
* Until 200 AM CST.
* At 1135 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain in and nearby Wills Point. Between 3 and 5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional storms will further worsen the
ongoing flash flooding. Water rescues are ongoing near and east of
Wills Point.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Canton, Wills Point, Edgewood, Fruitvale, Lake Tawakoni, Myrtle
Springs, Wise and Alsa.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Dangerous flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. Do not attempt
to travel unless you are fleeing flood waters. If you are in an area
subject to flooding, move to higher ground now.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
