THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR BREEZY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY
FOR ALL THE OK AND TX PANHANDLES...
The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Red Flag
Warning for breezy winds and low relative humidity, which is in
effect from noon to 8 PM CST Thursday. A Fire Weather Watch has
also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch for breezy winds and
low relative humidity is in effect from Friday morning through
Friday evening.
* WINDS...Southwest 20.0 to 30.0 mph with gusts up to 45.0 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will have the potential to
spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* SEVERITY...
FUELS (ERC)...70th-89th percentile...4 (out of 5).
WEATHER...Elevated...1 (out of 5).
FIRE ENVIRONMENT...5 (out of 10).
Instruction:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create favorable weather for rapid fire growth and spread. Avoid
activities that promote open flames and sparks.
A Fire Weather Watch means that the potential for critical fire
weather conditions exists. Listen for later forecasts and
possible red flag warnings.
