The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Northeastern Kit Carson County in east central Colorado...
* Until 900 PM MDT.
* At 748 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles north of
Vona, or 10 miles northwest of Stratton, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Two inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Kit Carson County.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 409 and 450.
Highway 385 between mile markers 183 and 206, and near mile marker
211.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
This thunderstorm is producing accumulating hail, which will make
driving hazardous, similar to snow or ice. If you must travel, be
aware of rapidly changing road conditions.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT for east central
Colorado.
